After School Club

Our “After School Club”(ASC) program aims to supplement the current public education system for the community, by focusing on three activities:​

  • Help “out of school” children develop the basic learning skills needed for them to be “ready for school”
  • Provide after-school support (eg: doubt clearance, reinforcement of key concepts) to children already enrolled in a government school.
  • Incentivize participation through parent engagement and incentives (eg: provision of all school supplies and learning aids, 1 meal supplement per day, regular free health check-ups).

Foundational literacy & numeracy

  • Non- formal education and early childcare.
  • Help “out of school” children develop the basic learning skills needed for them to be “ready for school”.
  • Help mainstream out of school children to public education system.
  • Provide after-school support (eg: doubt clearance, reinforcement of key concepts) to children already enrolled in a government school.

Nutrition and Growth

  • Freshly prepared, hot, nutritious lunch served in ASC.
  • Nutritional supplementation (small meals of 12-gm proteins and 800 calories each day of the attending the programme).
  • Monitoring of growth
  • Remedial supplements, as needed for deficiency diseases

Health and Immunisation

  • Promoting health via health education
  • Promoting hygiene and sanitation practices, providing hygiene kits.
  • Regular health checks, and access to medical facilities when needed.
  • Monitoring and encouraging immunisation.
  • In association with local Primary Health Centre and doctors.

Socialising & Personality Development 

  • ASC is a safe place for children who are usually unsupervised in slums
  • Overall personality development through specialized learning programs
  • Encourage peer to peer learning and socialisation
  • Provide role models for children
  • Prevention of addictions
Phase 1 (3 years)

Focussing on understanding child psychology and learning capabilities, Nutritional supplementation (small meals of 5-gm proteins and 150-200 calories each day of the attending the programme), monitoring of growth1 and immunisation.2 (On going, started Aug 2020).

Early learning and child care centre, making them school-ready.
Puppet making, storytelling, watching cartoon shows / nursery rhymes/ story books.
Children learn to express, imagine and identify. Focus on oral pedagogy and introduction to the alphabet.
For 6-13 year olds:

Phase 2 (3 years)

Scale up to 3 such schools over 2-3 years, along with ongoing support for Phase 1 community, taking total children impacted to 500 by end of Year 5 of the programme.

Augmented and continued learning of the concepts taught under the Public Education System.
Help out of school children integrate into the Public Education System with support for catch-up learning with more intensive coaching.
Decrease dropout rates from formal school
