Digital Literacy
BRIDGING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE
Program Location: Badshahpur, Gurugram
Target Group : About 658 children, aged 6–21 years, from under-resourced communities enrolled with Vision Unlimite
Why This Program MattersDigital exclusion now begins early. While many children attend school and learning centres, a lack of access to basic digital tools places them at a disadvantage long before advanced education or skill training becomes relevant.
A 2026 survey conducted by Vision Unlimited revealed that over 93% of enrolled children lack basic computer literacy, despite being part of ongoing educational programs. This gap reflects limited access and exposure—not lack of ability or motivation .
Without early, structured digital exposure, children risk entering adolescence already excluded from digital learning pathways that shape education, services, and future employment.
Program Objective
The Digital Literacy Program is designed as a foundational, preventive intervention. Its goal is to ensure that children develop early confidence and familiarity with digital tools, positioning them for future learning rather than attempting late corrective interventions. The emphasis is on confidence, comfort, and readiness, not certification or advanced technical training.
The program focuses on:
• Basic use of computers and smartphones
• Foundational skills such as typing, file handling, and safe internet use
• Early development of logical thinking and exposure to basic coding concepts
Program Approach
• Age-appropriate learning batches (younger children focus on familiarity; older students on functional skills)
• Shared and supervised use of digital devices to maximise reach
• Integration with Vision Unlimited’s existing education ecosystem. The program builds on existing infrastructure, trained staff, and community presence.
Expected Outcomes
The children will:
• Gain confidence in using digital devices
• Develop curiosity and comfort with technology
• Be better prepared for school-based digital learning
• Enter future education pathways with foundational digital readiness
• Experience reduced digital exclusion within their community
Why Partner With Vision UnlimitedVision Unlimited approaches digital literacy as foundational infrastructure, similar to literacy and numeracy—quiet, consistent, and essential. By supporting this program, partners enable an early, stabilising intervention that protects children from long-term exclusion rather than responding after opportunities have already narrowed.
